IO Interactive has announced another delay for the Nintendo Switch 2 port of its James Bond game, 007 First Light. The title, originally slated to launch in May and then pushed to the third quarter of 2026, is now scheduled for a March 2027 release.
In a September 15th statement, the developer stated that the delay is necessary to "ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect." The additional time will be used to "polish the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game." IO Interactive expressed enthusiasm for the game's reception at Gamescom, noting the positive feedback as a sign of progress.
This marks the second significant delay for the Switch 2 version of 007 First Light. The game was one of the earliest major third-party titles confirmed for the console and has been a frequent feature in Nintendo Direct presentations. Earlier in the year, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak had emphasized the company's commitment to ensuring a high-quality port, stating, "I don’t want to hear it wasn’t a good version." He had previously acknowledged the need for more time, suggesting a late summer release after the initial May target, but ultimately confirmed the need for a further extension.
Despite positive hands-on impressions from recent gaming conventions, some observers have raised concerns about how the game's more complex environments and large crowds would perform on Nintendo's hardware. The repeated delays have also drawn criticism from some Switch 2 owners.
