10 Essential GameCube Games Still Missing From Switch Online

Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack tier offers access to a selection of Nintendo GameCube titles, but the library remains relatively sparse over a year after its launch. Initially debuting with only three games—F-Zero GX, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and Soulcalibur 2—the collection has since expanded by just eight additional titles. This leaves a significant portion of the GameCube's celebrated catalog unavailable to subscribers. Here are 10 essential GameCube games that are still notably absent from the service.

Animal Crossing

Released in December 2001, the original Animal Crossing served as an introduction to the life simulation series for many players. It allowed users to move into a village populated by animal characters, engaging in activities like fishing, bug catching, and decorating their homes while paying off a debt to Tom Nook. Despite subsequent entries offering more features, the charm of the inaugural release remains potent, making its absence from Switch Online notable.

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean

Monolith Soft, known for its work on the Xenoblade and Xenosaga series, also developed Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, which released in December 2003. This RPG featured a hero named Kalas who utilized Magnus cards for combat and exploration across sky islands. Bandai Namco released a remastered compilation of the Baten Kaitos games in September 2023, suggesting a precedent for Nintendo to make such titles available.
