24 Jump Street Lands December 2027 Release Date, Original Cast Set to Return

The long-awaited sequel, 24 Jump Street, has officially been given a release date of December 10, 2027, by Sony. Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, and Ice Cube are all confirmed to be returning for the film.

The movie was officially announced earlier this year, following years of anticipation from fans. Despite the title suggesting a continuation of the high school or college undercover operations of the previous films, this installment will be the third in the franchise. Plans for a prior sequel in the 2010s that would have crossed over with the Men in Black franchise ultimately fell through.

With a significant gap between entries, some observers believed the Jump Street franchise might have concluded. However, Jonah Hill and Meghan Malloy developed a script for the new film, with Rodney Rothman, known for his work on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, set to direct. Details regarding the full cast and plot remain scarce. Given the extended period since the last film, it is speculated that the characters may no longer be able to integrate into a high school or college setting, potentially leaning into the self-aware humor about their age that was present in the first two movies.

The production schedule suggests that filming will commence soon to meet the December 2027 launch. This timeline indicates that additional casting news could be imminent. The film is poised to be another R-rated comedy addition to the big screen, and its success could signal a demand for similar projects from other studios. Currently, 24 Jump Street is slated to open around the same time as Marvel's Avengers: Secret Wars, potentially leading to significant box office competition unless Marvel shifts its release date.
