Abiotic Factor Roadmap Includes Mod Support, Tropical DLC, and Winter Update

Abiotic Factor, the science-fiction survival game that draws comparisons to Half-Life, has outlined its content roadmap for the second year following its 1.0 release in July. Developers Deep Field confirmed that the game will receive official mod support, a winter update, and a paid downloadable content expansion titled Entropic Break, with these updates extending through 2027.

The upcoming mod support is a significant feature, set to include a free mod launcher alongside the standard game executable. Players will also receive proprietary tools for creating mods and a mod browser for sharing creations and hosting modified game instances. The moddable elements will encompass items, weapons, gear, pets, enemies, and potentially maps, indicated by the mention of "modded sessions." This mod support will arrive with Community Update 5, which also introduces a new pet, a multi-quest system to organize objectives, and various balance adjustments.

A smaller, free winter update is also planned, with a notable addition being the ability to grow trees in soil plots, enabling sustainable farming of apples and other resources. This update will also feature new seasonal recipes and a brewing bench, intended for festive brews but potentially usable for a wider range of recipes.

The Entropic Break DLC will take players outside of the game's typical underground facilities to the Leaf Test Facility, a new location featuring sandy shores. This paid expansion will include new items, enemies, sidequests, pets, boats, fishing mechanics, and crossover content, the latter of which is teased with the tagline "It'll have you hooked!" The DLC will also add several new portal worlds, including one described as the game's "biggest portal world yet," which appears to be an eldritch meat-themed dimension based on trailer footage. Developers also hinted at the possibility of fishing-related crossovers, potentially linking to games like Dredge.
