Atari is collaborating with Activision to reintroduce 39 of Activision's foundational Atari 2600 games in their original physical cartridge format. This partnership aims to revive some of the earliest landmark titles developed by Activision, which was originally founded by former Atari employees.
The Atari x Activision Collection will feature cartridges that are compatible with original Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 consoles, as well as modern systems like the Atari 2600+ and Atari 7800+. The collection marks the first time in decades that these games will be available in a playable, physical form.
Initially, a dozen of the 39 games will be released as Standard Edition cartridges for $34.99 each. Titles such as Pitfall!, River Raid, and Megamania are scheduled for individual purchase in November, with The Activision Decathlon and Pitfall 2: Lost Caverns slated for a later release.
The remaining games will be offered exclusively through Deluxe Box Sets, each priced at $249.99 and shipping at staggered times. There will be four sets in total, with each containing nine or ten games.
The Treasure Collection, featuring 10 games including Pitfall!, River Raid, and Megamania, is set to ship in November 2026. The Speed Collection, arriving in Spring 2027, will include 10 titles like Enduro and HERO. Nine games will be available in the Secrets Collection in Summer 2027, with titles such as Kaboom! and Keystone Kapers. Finally, the Victory Collection will launch in Fall 2027, offering ten games including Pitfall II: Lost Caverns and River Raid II.
For dedicated collectors, a Complete Collection bundle will be available for $999.96. This comprehensive package includes all four box sets and an unannounced collector's item.
Preorders for the Standard Edition cartridges, the Treasure Collection, and the Complete Collection are now open on Atari's website.
