Firesprite has confirmed that AdHoc Studio, the developer behind the narrative-driven game "Dispatch," played a co-development role in "Until Dawn 2." This collaboration aims to enhance the upcoming horror sequel's storytelling with a focus on impactful player choices and character relationships.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Firesprite detailed how their partnership with AdHoc Studio, a team composed of former developers from Telltale Games, Ubisoft, and Night School Studio, will shape the "Until Dawn 2" experience. The studio highlighted that AdHoc's expertise in crafting layered narratives will result in a "deeply layered story packed with rich characters, razor-sharp dialogue, fraught relationships, tough decisions, and yes… more than a few gruesome deaths." The developers emphasized that "every choice, every interaction can ripple with dramatic consequences."
AdHoc Studio, which emerged as a notable developer last year with the release of "Dispatch," is known for its ability to blend nuanced relationships with compelling writing and meaningful player agency. The exact timeline of AdHoc's involvement in "Until Dawn 2" remains unclear, but their contribution is expected to significantly enrich the game's branching narrative, a hallmark of the original "Until Dawn" title.
Firesprite also revealed that "Until Dawn 2" is slated for release on PlayStation 5 this January. This announcement comes earlier than anticipated, following the game's reveal earlier this summer. The sequel will feature the return of familiar characters, including the enigmatic Dr. Hill, from the original game.
