Oni Press has announced a new four-issue comic series, "Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake," which will focus on the gender-swapped counterparts of Finn and Jake. The series is written by Jenna Ayoub and illustrated by Damali Beatty.
The first issue features cover art by Ayoub, Nicole Goux, Reggie Graham, Dakota Cates, and Calculus Homework. The story centers on Fionna and Cake receiving an invitation to a circus performance hosted by Prince Gumball. However, the Ice Queen, who was not invited, decides to take over the show.
"We’re so excited to bring Fionna & Cake back to comic books!" said Oni Press editor Megan Brown. "The fans demanded more Fionna & Cake comics and we listened! This vibrant adventure under the Big Top promises new characters, familiar faces, and a whole host of circus-related shenanigans, brought to life by the magnificent duo of Jenna Ayoub and Damali Beatty! Straight from the pages of Ice King’s beloved fanfic, our favorite heroes have become fantastic reality—and might just have bitten off more than they can chew with this whole circus thing…"
"Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake #1" is set to be released on January 13. Preorders can be placed at local comic shops.
Oni Press is also currently crowdfunding "The Adventure Time Deluxe Comics Library," a collection of all issues published since 2012.
