One of the most celebrated modern takes on the Archie Comics universe, "Afterlife With Archie," is set to receive a deluxe hardcover collection. Oni Press has launched a Kickstarter campaign for "Afterlife With Archie: Mausoleum Edition Vol. 1," offering fans a comprehensive way to revisit the zombie-infested Riverdale.
The "Mausoleum Edition" will present the complete interior artwork and covers from "Afterlife With Archie" #1-6. These will be presented in black and white at the size of full-scale comic artboard and remastered by artist Francesco Francavilla himself. The series, written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and illustrated by Francavilla, originally debuted in 2013 and was met with widespread critical acclaim for its inventive horror take on the classic characters.
This new hardcover edition aims to capture the terrifying, tense, and atmospheric artwork that defined the series. Beyond the core comic issues, the Kickstarter campaign includes several optional bonuses. These rewards range from signed copies by Aguirre-Sacasa and Francavilla to exclusive posters, T-shirts, and enamel pins. Reprints of the individual comic issues are also available as part of the campaign's tiered offerings.
The "Afterlife With Archie" series is noted for its significant impact on the Archie franchise, redefining the characters for a new generation of readers. Its success paved the way for further genre-bending Archie titles. A live-action streaming series adaptation is also slated to debut on Disney+ in 2027.
