Eremite Games, the studio behind the roguelite city-builder Against the Storm, has revealed its next project: a survival game set within the same bleak fantasy world. The developers shared a brief video snippet depicting two hooded figures navigating a rain-soaked woodland towards a cabin, suggesting a focus on cooperative multiplayer and possibly base-building elements.

The studio began winding down development on Against the Storm in December, two years after its 1.0 launch. Eremite Games stated in a Steam post that most of their current efforts are dedicated to experimenting with this new title. The team emphasized that the project is in its very early stages, with many elements subject to change.

While Against the Storm focused on city-building where players manage animal workers harvesting resources for a tyrant and establish settlements that are later destroyed by Blightstorms, this new survival game aims to explore the world's landscape more intimately. Developers expressed curiosity about how the Blightstorm phenomenon might impact traditional survival game mechanics, such as enduring inclement weather or resource management.

Eremite Games, a small independent team of six people, acknowledged that they might be revealing the project too early but felt compelled to share due to the excitement of development. They also addressed potential concerns about the future of the Against the Storm series, confirming that the idea of a sequel is frequently considered. However, for now, the team is prioritizing exploration of the survival genre and new narrative avenues within the existing universe.
