Alan Ritchson in Talks with DC Studios for Potential Role

DC Studios executives have been in discussions with Alan Ritchson, star of the Prime Video series "Reacher," regarding a potential role in the burgeoning DC Universe. Despite ongoing conversations, no specific project has yet been greenlit for the actor.

Peter Safran, co-head of DC Studios, confirmed to Collider that discussions have occurred about a "couple things" with Ritchson, but noted that "nothing that's come to fruition at this point." Safran expressed admiration for Ritchson, stating, "He's just good. I also think there's a lot more depth to him than you might have seen. I think there's more that he can do that people haven't seen."

Ritchson himself previously indicated that he had spoken with James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios and director of "Superman," about joining the DCU. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast over the summer, Ritchson emphasized his selective approach to projects. "I would like to do something with James. James would like to do something with me. But my litmus test for what I will take is strict. I pick the shit out of projects. I know how to develop a project. Anything I do with DC will still meet my standards," he stated.

While Ritchson is a popular fan casting for Batman, he has downplayed the possibility of taking on that role. At San Diego Comic-Con, Ritchson mentioned that discussions were about "another character" and not Batman, suggesting that his potential DCU involvement would be with a different figure.

Ritchson has prior experience with DC characters, having portrayed Aquaman in The CW's "Smallville" and Hawk in "Titans." He is currently widely recognized for his role as Jack Reacher in the Prime Video series, a character known for his imposing physique and formidable presence, though not a superhero.
