Remedy Entertainment has announced that its survival horror title Alan Wake 2 has sold over 3 million copies worldwide. The milestone was revealed in the company's latest financial results, which also detailed ongoing investments in its next major release, Control Resonant.
While Remedy's recent financial performance shows a decrease in profit, revenue, and cash flow, the company attributes this to its focus on the development of Control Resonant and steady sales from its existing portfolio. The multiplayer title FBC: Firebreak concluded its live service in March, having met with low sales.
Jean-Charles Gaudechon, who assumed the role of CEO in March, outlined the company's strategy. Significant marketing efforts are underway for Control Resonant, including trailers showcased during major gaming events like Sony's State of Play and Summer Game Fest. Gaudechon noted that while annual numbers are down compared to the previous year, which included revenue from FBC: Firebreak's subscription service integrations, the company is looking ahead.
Control Resonant has garnered substantial interest, with 1.5 million wishlists across PC and consoles. It is also among the top three pre-ordered PlayStation games in key markets such as the U.S., Germany, and Brazil. "We position Control Resonant as a must-have day-one purchase while also building Control into a lasting franchise," Gaudechon stated. He expressed confidence that the game's unique qualities will help it stand out in a competitive release window, especially as the launch period has become less crowded since its initial reveal. Control Resonant is set to be a cross-platform release, priced attractively for a AAA title.
Beyond Control Resonant, Remedy is continuing development on the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes. The studio also has an unannounced project that has reached "production readiness," though further details remain undisclosed. The company has previously stated its intention to expand its established franchises, Control and Alan Wake, which are interconnected within the Remedy Connected Universe. Remedy will self-publish these future titles, retaining full intellectual property rights. The Max Payne franchise, originally created by Remedy, is being developed in partnership.
Control Resonant is scheduled to launch on September 24 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
