Production on season two of FX's sci-fi horror series Alien: Earth has officially begun, as confirmed by the network via a short video shared on Instagram. Creator Noah Hawley is returning as showrunner, alongside much of the original cast, including Sydney Chandler as Wendy. The series, which garnered positive critical and audience reception following its 2025 debut, is set within the universe established by Ridley Scott's 1979 film.
The upcoming season will feature new additions to the ensemble, with Peter Dinklage, Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell, and Jerome Flynn joining the cast. Hawley has prior working relationships with Spruell from Fargo, while Dinklage and Flynn previously appeared together in Game of Thrones.
This renewed focus on the Alien franchise extends beyond the television series. Sega has announced a sequel to the 2014 game Alien: Isolation, which is reportedly set on an Earth-like colony and will feature a new protagonist. Additionally, Ridley Scott is returning to direct a new prequel film, which will follow the events of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant and star Michael Fassbender's character, David. This marks Scott's direct involvement in the franchise's cinematic output following Fede Álvarez's 2024 film, Alien: Romulus.
