Principal photography has concluded for Amazon's live-action adaptation of the narrative adventure game, Life Is Strange. The news was shared by the series' cinematographer, Vincent De Paula, via an Instagram post.
The post featured a collage of images from the production, styled to resemble Polaroids, interspersed with elements from the original game, including art featuring the lead characters. De Paula captioned the update with "WRAPPED!! Can't wait to show you what we did." The announcement notably coincided with the in-game timeframe of the original Life Is Strange, which spans from October 7-11.
The series is being written by Charlie Covell, known for her work on The End of the F***ing World, who will also serve as an executive producer and showrunner. Maisy Stella and Tatum Grace Hopkins are set to portray the central duo, Chloe Price and Max Caulfield, respectively. The supporting cast includes Tom Cullen, Leisha Hailey, Raúl Castillo, Owen Teague, Billy Barratt, Emily Carey, Esther McGregor, Faly Rakotohavana, and Mia Isaac. Karyn Kusama, director of Jennifer's Body and episodes of Yellowjackets, is helming the first two installments of the series. An official episode count and release date have yet to be revealed.
This development follows the recent release of Life Is Strange: Reunion, a game intended to conclude the narrative arc of Max and Chloe. While Reunion received mixed reviews, with some praising its conclusion and others criticizing its fan-fiction-like tone, it reportedly exceeded Square Enix's sales expectations. Despite the game's conclusion of Max and Chloe's story, the future of the Life Is Strange franchise remains uncertain, with fans speculating whether the upcoming Amazon series might revitalize interest in the property.
