Amazon Game Studios will discontinue its support for the Western servers of the massively multiplayer online action role-playing game Lost Ark beginning in early 2027. The original developer, Smilegate, is set to assume control of these servers, consolidating all global operations under its management.
The transition is expected to occur in early 2027, though a precise date has not yet been specified. Upon handover, players' character progression, unlocks, save data, and in-game currency will remain unaffected. However, customer support will be managed by Smilegate, and players will need to accept a new terms of service agreement.
Active in-game subscriptions will be canceled as part of the transition. The 12-month Crystalline Plus subscription, a premium battle pass-like feature, has already been removed from the in-game store, and players are advised against purchasing new long-term subscriptions. Details regarding the handling of remaining pre-paid time are still being finalized with Smilegate.
Some in-game data will not carry over. Players should expect their in-game mail, friends lists, guild member nicknames, blacklist memos, stronghold gift messages, quiz data, and chat history to be wiped. It is recommended that players clear their inboxes and prepare for some social re-establishment following the transfer.
Additionally, official Spanish language support for Lost Ark will be removed in an update scheduled for October 2026, leaving English as the sole supported language for Western servers moving forward.
This change marks another step in Amazon's withdrawal from MMO development. The company previously announced the end of service for New World, which led to significant layoffs across its game development divisions, including those working on a generative AI game and a Lord of the Rings MMO.
