American Truck Simulator is expanding its virtual road network to include North Dakota, SCS Software announced. The upcoming downloadable content will allow players to traverse the state's diverse landscapes, from its sweeping prairies and farmland to its winding rivers and expansive skies.

The DLC, revealed in a new trailer, showcases semi-trucks hauling various goods through rural settings, passing buffalo herds, small towns, and notable landmarks like giant fish statues. This addition will bring the total number of American Truck Simulator DLCs on Steam to 61, though the developers note that some previous additions have been smaller or free.

North Dakota joins other US states already featured in the game, such as Texas, New Mexico, and Idaho. A release date for the North Dakota DLC has not yet been announced.

Despite some social media commentary humorously suggesting the state might be easily replicated with "empty field, CTRL-C, CTRL-V," developers aim to capture the essence of driving and delivery. The game emphasizes adhering to speed limits and transporting cargo, a gameplay loop that appeals to players who appreciate a more relaxed simulation experience. The inclusion of North Dakota is seen by some as providing a blank canvas for roleplaying, allowing players to find character in the mundane or unique aspects of the state.
