Analogue has announced enhanced versions of its popular retro gaming consoles, the Mega SG+ and Super Nt+.
These revised machines are designed to play original Sega Genesis, Mega Drive, and Super Nintendo cartridges, respectively, with modern upgrades. The company highlights that the consoles utilize an in-house FPGA solution, stating "No emulation. Purpose-built 1080p for 2D gaming. Zero lag. Total accuracy." This FPGA technology is said to be the result of over a decade of development.
The Mega SG+ boasts compatibility with over 2,180 games from the Sega Genesis, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, and other compatible libraries. The Super Nt+ supports more than 2,200 Super Nintendo and Super Famicom titles.
Both consoles feature a redesigned industrial aesthetic and offer enhanced connectivity options, including support for wireless controllers via Bluetooth and 2.4GHz. A new convenience feature allows users to hot-swap cartridges without powering down the console by quitting the current game first. Additionally, the consoles can now be powered on and off using a controller, and include the necessary USB-C power supply and cable.
Pre-orders for the Mega SG+ and Super Nt+ are scheduled to begin on October 19th via the Analogue website. The consoles are expected to ship in December. The Mega SG+ will be available for $219.99 in three regional variants (Japan, EU, and US). The Super Nt+ will also cost $219.99 and will be offered in three colorways: Classic, SF, and Black.
