Angela Sant'Albano, known for her role as Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem, is reportedly the new voice of Gwendolyn, the protagonist in the upcoming game Tides of Annihilation. This speculation gained traction following a demo shown at an event in Shanghai, where attendees noted a redesigned protagonist appearance and voice that resembled Sant'Albano.
While neither Sant'Albano nor Tides of Annihilation developer Eclipse Glow Games have officially confirmed the casting, Jennifer Prime, Gwendolyn's motion capture actor, seemingly corroborated the reports on social media. Responding to a fan's claim that Sant'Albano was the new voice actor, Prime stated, "Yep!!! But this time, no more screaming 'Leon!!!!'" Prime later humorously acknowledged her slight confusion regarding Resident Evil character roles, noting her ongoing experience with the series.
Eclipse Glow Games has stated that Jennifer English, the original voice actor for Gwendolyn, was instrumental in the recruitment process for her replacement. "During this transition, Jennifer remained incredibly supportive and, together with other members of our voice cast, helped us identify and connect with talented performers who could carry Gwendolyn forward while staying true to the character," the studio said. The developer also indicated that the chosen replacement "left a strong impression on both Jennifer and our team" with her "recent work in videogames," a statement that aligns with Sant'Albano's recent acclaimed role in Resident Evil Requiem.
