Angela Sant'Albano has been announced as the new voice for Gwendolyn, the protagonist of the upcoming stylish action game Tides of Annihilation. Sant'Albano, known for her role as Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem, steps into the position previously held by Jennifer English.

English, who gained significant recognition for her performances as Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, recently revealed she would be stepping away from the role of Gwendolyn due to health reasons. Developers for Tides of Annihilation expressed surprise at the decision but supported English's need to prioritize her well-being.

The announcement of Sant'Albano's casting was made during Gamescom's Opening Night Live. Based on her previous acclaimed performance as Grace Ashcroft, Sant'Albano is expected to be a fitting replacement for the lead character. The new trailer for Tides of Annihilation features Sant'Albano's portrayal of Gwendolyn.

While the actress taking on the role is a key development, anticipation for the game's full release remains high. Senior associate editor Wesley LeBlanc noted in a recent hands-on preview that while two hours was insufficient to determine if Tides of Annihilation would match the quality of its character action game inspirations, it was enough to generate a strong desire for more playtime.

Tides of Annihilation is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A specific release window has not yet been announced.
