Tokyo police have arrested a 32-year-old woman for allegedly obstructing business after she placed and then cancelled over 4.3 billion yen worth of Naruto and One Piece merchandise orders. The restaurant employee reportedly used 238 fake accounts to place more than 2,000 orders on Shueisha's Jump Characters Store, an online shop featuring merchandise from popular series like Demon Slayer, Bleach, and My Hero Academia.

According to reports, the accused engaged in this pattern of behavior between 2024 and 2025. She allegedly utilized the cash-on-delivery payment method, common in Japan, which allows customers to pay upon receipt of the item. Instead of completing the purchases, the woman is accused of cancelling the orders after they had been shipped or allowing them to be sent out and left unclaimed. This reportedly resulted in losses of approximately 7.5 million yen (around $47,500) for Shueisha, including shipping costs.

The suspect has reportedly admitted to the charges, stating that placing these orders satisfied her love for anime and provided relief from daily stress. She is accused of obstructing the business of Shueisha's Jump Characters Store.
