Despite efforts to improve its anti-cheat systems throughout 2026, Embark Studios continues to face challenges with cheaters in the player-versus-player modes of its cooperative shooter, Arc Raiders. The prevalence of cheating, including aimbots, wallhacks, and exploits like item duplication, has been frequently cited on social media and has led some content creators to stop playing the game.
Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal acknowledged the ongoing nature of this issue, stating that "cheating is interesting" and that virtually every multiplayer game faces such challenges due to the significant size of the cheating industry. "We're continuously improving and dealing with that situation," Grøndal said. "Is it as fast as everyone would have wanted us to? Perhaps not. But we have some pretty good tools in place, and we do actually take a lot of actions against the situation."
Grøndal explained that the studio employs a variety of technologies, some offering immediate solutions and others focusing on retroactive data analysis. Embark is consistently evaluating and collaborating with partners to determine the best course of action, while also developing new internal systems. He noted that while past cheating incidents might still be visible online, the studio's efforts mean these issues may no longer be present in the game.
While the upcoming Frozen Trail update, scheduled for release on October 8, will not include specific anti-cheat features, Grøndal emphasized that these improvements are integrated continuously and operate more discreetly. "We are continuously adding, improving, dealing, and taking action against the situation," he confirmed.
