Arc Raiders Free-to-Play Trial Coincides With Major 'Frozen Trail' Update

Arc Raiders studio Embark is making the extraction shooter free to play for four days, coinciding with the launch of its largest update yet, "Frozen Trail." This trial period, running from October 8th to 12th, aims to attract new players and welcome back previous ones.

The free trial grants full access to the game across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox. Players will be able to experience all content, including the new Pendola Pass map, though access to the map may require in-game progression or an invitation from a friend who has it unlocked.

The "Frozen Trail" update is described as an expansion-sized addition, introducing a significant new map, new Arc enemies, additional weapons, and gadgets. It also includes the first major overhaul of the game's metagame, with adjustments to crafting, ammo, and the implementation of a more traditional battle pass system.

Following the free trial, Arc Raiders will host a Player vs. Environment (PvE) matchmaking test from October 13th to 20th. This test will disable player-on-player damage, offering an alternative experience for players who prefer not to engage in competitive play.
