Embark Studios has introduced a significant change to how map conditions operate in Arc Raiders, aiming to provide a more equitable experience for all players. The latest update, version 1.42.0, replaces the previous global scheduling with a new Regional Map Condition Scheduling system.
Previously, map conditions like the popular rubber duck hunts in Bird City or survival challenges in Cold Snap were tied to a single, worldwide schedule. This often led to players missing out on specific conditions due to time zone differences, as these events would only be active during hours when many were at work or asleep. While Embark initially attempted to mitigate this by increasing the frequency of these conditions, it did not fully resolve the issue of uneven regional availability.
The new regional scheduling means that map conditions will now have their start times adjusted to align with the peak playing hours in different geographical areas. This adjustment is intended to make it less likely for players to miss out on any given map condition, no matter their location.
Players can monitor the updated schedule through the in-game map conditions tracker. Embark stated that this change will ensure a greater variety of conditions are available during peak times, allowing players to participate in events and collect in-game items without needing to adjust their sleep schedules.
