Developer Embark Studios has announced that Arc Raiders will temporarily halt its Expeditions system until early 2027. This pause is intended to allow for significant improvements and a complete rework of the feature, which is designed to offer high-level players a way to reset progress in exchange for unique benefits, akin to prestiging in Call of Duty.

The decision comes after careful review of player feedback regarding Expeditions. Embark Studios acknowledged that issues such as tight departure windows, the reward structure, and accessibility for new players require more than incremental fixes. "They call for bigger changes," the studio stated in an update. Consequently, the upcoming fifth Expedition will be the last iteration of the system until its relaunch in 2027 with major enhancements.

Players who have earned consecutive buffs will retain them through the pause period, ensuring no progress is lost. Partially completed Caravans will be converted into Ermal Vouchers of equivalent value. The fifth Expedition is scheduled to open on September 8 at 4 am PT/7 am ET, and details regarding its specifics and rewards have been provided.

The community reaction to this announcement appears mixed. While some players are taking a wait-and-see approach, acknowledging the need for improvements, others express reservations about Embark's ability to deliver the desired changes, especially since some players are content with the current system. Embark Studios has committed to sharing more details about the upcoming changes in September.
