Embark Studios' cooperative PvE shooter Arc Raiders is set to receive a substantial update with "Frozen Trails," which promises to address existing player concerns and introduce a host of new features, including a revamped player outpost system. This expansion grants players the ability to build and customize their own home base, known as the Outpost, on Topside.
Previously, players had a single, small room with limited customization options. The new Outpost, located in the Pendola Pass area between the Rust Belt and a mountain range, serves as a crucial step in reclaiming parts of the game's surface. This expanded space will allow for greater personalization through various modules and furniture.
These new modules will also be integral to a new weapon amplification system, which imbues gear with unique abilities such as flammable ammunition or rapid-fire capabilities. These enhancements will be particularly useful when venturing into Pendola Pass, which is described as the most challenging map to date.
Beyond its functional benefits, the outpost system is designed to offer players a more personal connection to the game. Embark has stated that the Outpost is the initial phase of a feature they intend to develop further, aiming to eventually provide players with a deeply personal space where they can shape their identity as a Raider. This suggests that further customization and gameplay expansions related to the Outpost can be expected in future updates.
