Arc Raiders PvE Test Ends After 30 Million Rounds Played

The limited-time Player versus Environment (PvE) test for Embark Studios' Arc Raiders has concluded, with the developer reporting that over 30 million rounds were played during the week-long event. The test, which ran for a single week, offered players a cooperative alternative to the game's player versus player (PvP) combat.

While the PvE test has ended, Embark Studios has stated that it requires time to analyze the significant amount of data and player feedback collected. "We need a bit of time to understand what the data is telling us, and what our community is saying," the studio noted in an official blog post. Embark will be reviewing player sentiments submitted through a dedicated Discord channel and a survey that will be sent to select players starting October 22.

The conclusion of the PvE test coincides with the game's Frozen Trail update, which appears to have revitalized player interest. Following the update and the PvE test, Arc Raiders saw a substantial increase in its concurrent player count, rising from 50,000 to 185,000. The game's Steam reviews have also shifted to "Mostly Positive," and a recent Steam blog post announcing the PvE test received 17,000 upvotes, significantly more than the 7,000 for the Frozen Trail update.

Embark Studios emphasized that the decision on whether to permanently implement PvE will prioritize the overall health and enjoyability of Arc Raiders. The studio anticipates providing further information regarding the outcome of their data analysis in November. The developer acknowledges that initial readings suggest the test has been polarizing among the player base, but they are committed to a thorough evaluation.
