Artemis Fowl is set to return to television screens as an animated series for Disney Channel and Disney+.
Author Eoin Colfer announced the greenlight for the new project during the 25 Years of Artemis Fowl panel at New York Comic Con 2026. Colfer will be involved in the animated show as an executive producer, aiming to explore the characters and lore of the book series more deeply. The original Artemis Fowl book was published in 2001, and the series has sold over 35 million copies globally.
Joining Colfer as executive producers are Ben Juwono, known for Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and Colleen Evanson from DuckTales. Colfer expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating he is "proud and delighted to be part of the formidable team that is putting the Artemis Fowl animation on screen."
While there is no release date for the animated series, this is not Disney's first adaptation of the property. A live-action film titled Artemis Fowl was released in 2020, receiving a 8% critic score and a 19% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. IGN's review of the film described it as "an empty science fantasy tale with forgettable characters and an uninspired story."
The animated series will follow the 13-year-old genius Artemis Fowl as he discovers a hidden world of technologically advanced fairies. His plan involves capturing a fairy to steal its magic to save his ailing mother and family.
Elsewhere at New York Comic Con 2026, trailers were shown for Godzilla Minus Zero and Blade Runner 2099, and new details emerged about a Naruto crossover series.
