Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has achieved significant commercial success in its opening weeks, exceeding Ubisoft's annual sales projections shortly after its release. The remake sold two million copies within its first day. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated in a recent financial report that "Two weeks in, the title has already exceeded the annual expectations we had," adding that the game is the highest-rated Assassin's Creed title since the original Black Flag.

This commercial triumph arrives at a sensitive time for Ubisoft, as the company recently conducted layoffs affecting hundreds of employees. Notably, nearly a third of Ubisoft Barcelona, a studio that contributed to the development of Black Flag Resynced by handling its underwater levels, was impacted by these reductions. This led to a labor strike at the affected studio.

Despite these circumstances, the strong sales performance of Black Flag Resynced indicates that the original game's enduring popularity is a significant factor in its current success. The remake has faced some criticism, including the inclusion of day-one DLC, simplified combat mechanics, and an in-game shop, elements that might deter some players. In a review, PC Gamer described the game as "a well-made, but inessential remake that loses more than it gains."
