Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has achieved the largest player peak in the franchise's history on Steam, drawing approximately 100,000 concurrent players shortly after its launch. The remake's launch peak reached 99,451 players, establishing a new record for any Assassin's Creed title on the platform.

This figure notably exceeds the launch peaks of other recent franchise entries. Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in feudal Japan, recorded a peak of 64,825 players, while the Greek-themed Assassin's Creed Odyssey saw 62,069 concurrent players at its launch. While not all Assassin's Creed games have consistently launched on Steam simultaneously, with titles like Assassin's Creed Valhalla appearing on the platform later, Black Flag Resynced's early performance stands out significantly within the series.

The strong reception for Black Flag Resynced comes as a potential relief for publisher Ubisoft, following a period marked by company restructuring, development delays, and mixed sales performances for some of its titles. Reports prior to the remake's release indicated strong PC pre-order numbers, suggesting significant player interest. The game's performance also means it has already surpassed the lifetime sales of Skull & Bones, a pirate-themed spinoff developed from elements of the original Black Flag.

IGN's review of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced lauded the title as "more than just a shinier version of the same game you remember," noting that it successfully updates a beloved entry in the series to modern standards, awarding it a score of 9/10.
