The director of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has encouraged players to continue engaging with the game's post-launch content, even as the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 approaches its November 19 release.
Richard Knight, game director for the remake, acknowledged the potential impact of GTA 6's launch, a factor that has led many developers to release their titles in the earlier months of September and October. When asked about future updates for Resynced, Knight remained somewhat reserved but confirmed that a New Game Plus mode is in development, a feature previously mentioned by publisher Ubisoft.
Ubisoft recently announced that a New Game Plus option would be coming to the game, coinciding with the celebration of Resynced surpassing 3 million copies sold. "We're working on that right now," Knight stated regarding New Game Plus. "For sure. It's one of the first things. Partly because [Assassin's Creed] Shadows has already built their version, so it's considered a low-risk feature for us. We're still doing the work, so I can't promise exactly a day or anything, but we're definitely working on this one. It's just such a natural thing."
Beyond New Game Plus, Knight hinted at potential quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes, stating, "We need to support the game... We need to, you know, fix bugs. Sorry for anyone running into bugs. They hurt. They're painful for us, too. And we do want to add some quality-of-life stuff."
This suggestion of ongoing support through GTA 6's launch window is noteworthy. Knight expressed this sentiment in a conversation with YouTuber JorRaptor, stating, "I mean, I can't say anything officially, but you know, it doesn't feel like a crazy bet." He added, "Please play us when GTA 6 comes out."
Speculation also arises about the potential inclusion of a challenge mode, similar to the one recently introduced in Assassin's Creed Mirage, which allows players to replay story missions with new objectives for points and cosmetic rewards. However, the possibility of the original Black Flag's well-received DLC, Freedom Cry, being incorporated into Resynced has not been suggested by Ubisoft and would represent a significant development.
In its review, IGN awarded Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced a 9/10, describing it as "more than just a shinier version of the same game you remember," and noting that it "brings what was already one of the best games in the series up to today’s standards."
