Ubisoft is actively developing a New Game Plus mode for the recently released Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Game Director Richard Knight has confirmed. The feature is currently in the early stages of development, with work beginning shortly after the main game's completion.

Knight revealed the ongoing development in an interview with YouTuber JorRaptor, noting that the decision was partly influenced by the development of a similar mode for Assassin's Creed Shadows. He stated that Shadows having already built its version makes it a "low-risk feature" for the Black Flag Resynced team. While a timeline for the release of New Game Plus has not been provided, the development mirrors the post-launch strategy for Shadows, which also received a New Game Plus mode after its release.

Discussions are ongoing regarding potential unique rewards for players who engage with the New Game Plus mode, though no definitive decisions have been made. The team is evaluating the production requirements for such additions, considering factors like unique assets and animations. The implementation of New Game Plus in Black Flag Resynced may prove more complex than in Shadows due to fundamental differences in the games' structures and the absence of an original New Game Plus mode in the initial Black Flag for reference.

This development follows Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's successful launch on Steam, which reportedly marked the best debut for any game in the series on the platform. This success stands in contrast to recent layoffs at Ubisoft's Barcelona studio, which contributed to the game's development. Employees at the Barcelona studio are currently on strike to protest these redundancies.

Critics have noted the game's structure, with some reviews suggesting that while elements of the original game remain, they are often overshadowed by new additions that can detract from the overall experience.
