Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced achieved over 2 million copies sold within its first 24 hours of release. This sales milestone places the remake among the strongest launches in the Assassin's Creed franchise.

The game's July 9 launch day also saw significant player engagement, with Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced topping the Twitch charts and reaching a peak concurrent player count of 99,451 on Steam, setting a new series record. "Black Flag has always held a special place in the heart of the community, and ours," said Martin Schelling, Head of Assassin's Creed brand. "Bringing it back with Resynced was a promise to that passion for Edward’s adventures, and to the unique sense of freedom players experienced back then. Seeing 2 million players set sail on day one, along with the great reviews from critics, is the greatest reward we could have hoped for."

Ubisoft typically remains reserved with exact sales figures for its Assassin's Creed titles, especially so close to their release. Previous entries like Assassin's Creed Valhalla saw Ubisoft confirm only that its launch week was the series' biggest in history. For Assassin's Creed Mirage, the publisher stated its performance aligned with that of Origins and Odyssey. The most recent installment, Assassin's Creed Shadows, was the best-selling game of March 2025 and reached 3 million players in its first week, though a significant number of these may have accessed it through Ubisoft+.

While Ubisoft has previously stated the franchise has exceeded expectations, directly comparing sales figures for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced to other recent games is challenging. However, the company's decision to share a concrete sales number, rather than focusing solely on player counts, suggests satisfaction with the remake's initial 24-hour performance.

The remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on July 9, 2026. Despite the strong sales opening, the launch day was not without its issues. Some players have voiced concerns on social media and Steam reviews regarding the game's microtransactions.

IGN awarded Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced a 9/10, describing it as "more than just a shinier version of the same game you remember," and noting that it "brings what was already one of the best games in the series up to today’s standards."
