Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, slated to be the next original mainline entry following Assassin's Creed Shadows, may not see a release until the latter half of 2027, according to a recent claim from industry insider NateTheHate. This timeline suggests that an official reveal or announcement for the game is not imminent.

NateTheHate, who has a history of accurate industry leaks, stated on X that the development schedule for Hexe does not necessitate an early reveal, as the game is projected to launch no sooner than the second half of 2027. This places Hexe significantly later in Ubisoft's release schedule.

The project has seen notable departures in its development leadership. In April, Benoit Richer, the game's director, announced his departure from the studio. This followed the confirmation in February that creative director Clint Hocking had also left the project and Ubisoft. Earlier, Marc-Alexis Côté, franchise lead for Assassin's Creed, departed Ubisoft, contributing to the establishment of Vantage Studios, a joint venture with Tencent aimed at overseeing development for Ubisoft's major franchises, including Assassin's Creed.

Details surrounding Codename Hexe have been scarce since its initial announcement. The game is understood to be set in medieval Europe and will feature themes of witchcraft, with Côté having previously described it as a "very different type of Assassin's Creed game." Beyond these broad strokes, specific gameplay mechanics or narrative elements have yet to be detailed.

In contrast, the most recent Assassin's Creed release, Black Flag Resynced, a remake of the 2013 title, has achieved significant commercial success. The game reportedly sold over 3.5 million units within its first two weeks, surpassing Ubisoft's expectations and setting new series records on the Steam platform.
