The animated sequel to Nickelodeon's "Avatar: The Last Airbender" series is set to receive a limited theatrical run in the United States, with showings beginning July 24. This move by Paramount is reportedly to qualify the film for awards season consideration. The theatrical engagement is slated to last for one week.

Only two theaters across the entire country will be screening the movie: the AMC Burbank Town Center 6 in Los Angeles and the AMC Empire 25 in New York City. Each location will host three showings per day, concluding on July 30. This limited release means approximately 42 showings will be available to the public.

The film was initially planned for a theatrical release but was later moved to a Paramount+ streaming debut. The movie also experienced an accidental leak in April, circulating online without watermarks prior to its streaming launch. Paramount+ has since moved up the film's streaming debut to July 25.

Despite the limited theatrical screenings, some fans continue to advocate for a wider release, citing the animation's potential to be best appreciated on a large screen. The decision for such a restricted release has drawn criticism for its perceived minimal effort in pursuing theatrical exhibition for awards consideration.
