Two critically acclaimed indie video games, the rule-bending puzzle title Baba Is You and the party game Party House from UFO 50, are being adapted into physical board games. The Kickstarter campaign to fund both adaptations is scheduled to begin on September 15.
Original UFO 50 and Party House developer Jon Perry has designed Party House: The Deckbuilding Game. The original video game centers on throwing parties and attracting VIP stars while managing police and fire department attention by balancing guest popularity and cash. The board game adaptation is a four-player deckbuilder that merges money and popularity into a single currency. It also combines house capacity and the busting threshold into a "Trouble" mechanic, with players moving to a shopping phase upon exceeding seven Trouble during a party.
Baba Is You: The Board Game aims to translate the video game's core mechanic of manipulating game rules into a competitive tabletop experience. The objective is for players to connect an "Is You" descriptor with an "Is Win" descriptor. Baba Is You designer Hempuli Oy contributed to the board game's development, working alongside Peter C. Hayward, known for That Time You Killed Me, and publisher Bitewing Games.
