A baby girl has officially had her birthplace recorded as a Cineworld cinema in Broughton, North Wales, after she was born during a screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The birth occurred around 45 minutes into the film. Molly Connah, the 32-year-old mother, was reportedly overdue and had attended an appointment for a sweep earlier that day. She described feeling that "something doesn't feel right" as the film progressed, and her condition intensified quickly. "At that point I think my body just went into shock and it was pure adrenalin," Connah told BBC News.
Assistance was provided by Connah's mother and staff from the Cineworld theater and a neighboring Starbucks, who supplied towels and sheets. Connah recalled feeling an urge to push, and after two attempts, her daughter, Elsie Lamb, was born.
An emergency medic and Elsie's father arrived shortly after the birth. The family was then transported to a hospital. All are reported to be doing well, and the family has since revisited the Cineworld to thank the staff for their help. The cinema provided the family with four complimentary tickets, as they missed the latter half of the movie.
The screening took place during a period when Harry Potter was re-released in theaters to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first film. This event precedes the upcoming reboot of the franchise as an HBO television series.
