Rockstar Games has announced a notable roster of musical artists who will be hosting radio stations in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. Among the confirmed hosts are global music stars Bad Bunny and Lana Del Rey, joining a lineup that also includes Morgan Wallen, Robyn, Slayer members Kerry King and Tom Araya, Trick Daddy, Trina, and Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy.
Lana Del Rey and Morgan Wallen will co-host Back Country Radio, a station focused on outlaw country music. Del Rey’s husband, Jeremy Dufrene, will also be featured as the voice of Mud Dog Mike, described as a "Back Country’s roving reporter, swamp meteorologist, and Delta’s not-so-secret lover." Del Rey expressed that the opportunity is "super special and a privilege," noting the connection she felt to Los Angeles through playing Grand Theft Auto V with her family.
Puerto Rican artists Bad Bunny and RaiNao are set to host Cocoteo FM, a station dedicated to Latin music. RaiNao stated that the station "gets our vibe, our slang, our taste, our pride, our experiences, our traditions, and all our crazy antics," emphasizing the pride in spotlighting their culture and people.
Further expanding the radio lineup, pop artist Robyn and model Alex Consani will take the reins of Flash FM, a station that originally appeared in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Robyn also had a track featured on GTA V's pop station. For fans of heavier music, Slayer's Kerry King and Tom Araya will host The Chamber 106.6, a heavy metal rock station that will feature a Slayer song. Trick Daddy and Trina will be the hosts for Dirty South Classics, and Burna Boy will co-host AfroBank FM with DJ Palms Trax.
This practice of featuring famous musicians as radio hosts is not new for the Grand Theft Auto series. Previous titles have seen personalities like Kenny Loggins in GTA V and Iggy Pop in Grand Theft Auto IV hosting their own in-game radio programs. However, Rockstar's extensive casting for Grand Theft Auto 6 suggests a significant expansion of this feature, with indications that the artists were involved in curating the music and overall vibe for their respective stations.
