A recently released mod for Baldur's Gate 3 introduces enhanced third-person camera capabilities, allowing players to experience the popular RPG from a fresh vantage point. This mod, created by Nexus Mods user Relysia, expands upon earlier camera adjustment mods by incorporating a toggleable over-the-shoulder view.

Relysia's mod builds directly on the features of a previously released native camera tweaks mod, retaining its existing functionalities while adding new ones. A key addition is the ability to seamlessly switch between an over-the-shoulder third-person perspective and the game's default view. The creator also shared a video demonstrating the differences between the older and newer mod, alongside an overview of its capabilities.

Unlike the game's original camera, which had limitations in its close-up view, the true third-person camera mod provides players with greater control to adjust the camera angle. The mod aims to keep the camera closely focused on the player character while dynamically adjusting the field of view during actions such as running or crouching. It also accounts for differing character heights and automatically shifts to a more distant view during combat and turn-based sequences before returning to the close view.

While the mod is noted to function best with a controller, it is also usable with a keyboard. Developers have included a "fix stuck camera" button to help players resolve any potential issues with camera angles. The mod continues to be developed, with some known bugs still being addressed.
