A new mod for Baldur's Gate 3, titled "A Dream of Silence: ReVamped," introduces a three-act campaign that places players alongside the vampire spawn Astarion in a nightmarish scenario. This mod, created by lizardphunk, adapts Abigail Corfman's original Twine game "A Dream of Silence" into a playable experience within Larian Studios' RPG.

The mod traps the player character and Astarion within a shifting, dreamlike version of Cazador's mansion, forcing difficult choices upon the player. It offers four distinct outcomes for Astarion, ranging from devastation to redemption, and introduces six new characters, including several vampire spawn. The narrative explores the tension inherent in Astarion's in-game story, focusing on the player's potential to betray him.

"A Dream of Silence" originally placed players within Astarion's psyche, managing a limited pool of abilities to keep him tethered to reality. The mod carries this resource management and emotional weight into the full Baldur's Gate 3 engine. Players can discover hidden interactions, track down previously inaccessible weapons, and even encounter a new feline NPC.

To install and run "A Dream of Silence: ReVamped," players will need to navigate Nexus Mods and free up approximately 1.3GB of storage space. The mod is currently exclusive to Windows PC. It requires players to use a custom character, as it cannot be played with Astarion as an origin character. The modder deliberately omitted voice acting, citing an ethical stance against reusing actor lines without consent, whether through AI or other means.

This modded campaign offers approximately six hours of custom content. Upon completing the mod and navigating the challenges within the Szarr Mansion, players will have made impactful choices that Baldur's Gate 3 itself does not present, ultimately determining Astarion's fate and facing the consequences of their decisions.
