Larian Studios has shared new player statistics for Baldur's Gate 3, offering a glimpse into the often unexpected behaviors of its player base. While previous data focused on character creation trends, the latest insights reveal a stark trend: players opting for standard backgrounds are more likely to kill the tiefling bard Alfira than those playing as the Dark Urge.
Alfira serves as the initial victim for Dark Urge characters, a narrative point intended to introduce the dark god Bhaal's influence and the character's compulsion to commit murder. This event is presented as a mandatory occurrence for Dark Urge players. However, the newly released statistics indicate that the total number of Alfira's deaths at the hands of non-Dark Urge players actually surpasses those compelled by the game's narrative for the Dark Urge origin.
Beyond this notable statistic, Larian also highlighted other player choices. A small number of players experimented with unusual screen aspect ratios, with over 100 opting for a 1:1 ratio and another subset choosing 9:16. The studio also noted that four players in Act 3 wielded the "Poo-Scraper" weapon, a rare and rather unappealing item, in combat.
These figures provide a humorous, if sometimes unsettling, look at how players are engaging with the world and its inhabitants in Baldur's Gate 3, showcasing a willingness to explore even the game's most unconventional elements.
