The Battlefield 6 development team has responded to player criticism regarding two cosmetic items introduced with Season 5. In a statement posted on their official Discord server, the developers addressed a prominent typo and an unusual cosmetic featuring multiple pistol holsters.
One of the focal points of community discussion was a skin that appeared to have a misspelling of the word "security" as "secuty" on an armband. Battlefield Studios confirmed that this visual anomaly will be corrected in a future update. "You called it out clearly, and we hear your concerns," the developers stated, acknowledging the memes and conversations that arose from the typo. They further commented, "Items that miss the mark like this do not reflect the quality standards you expect from us, or that we set for ourselves. We take pride in the craft of our world and our gear, and seeing visual oddities slip through is frustrating for everyone. We are currently examining our internal processes and workflows to pinpoint how these issues occurred and to see how we can tighten our quality control process going forward."
The development team did not directly address the speculation among some fans that generative AI was used in the creation of the skins, which has been a recurring accusation. However, they emphasized their commitment to improving internal quality control.
The other cosmetic that drew attention was the "Midnight Mirage" skin, notable for featuring a character equipped with five pistol holsters. The developers clarified that this design was an intentional creative concept, intended as a nod to "over-the-top action movie tropes where an operative inexplicably has another backup weapon strapped to every spare inch of gear." While understanding how it could appear unintentional, especially when released alongside other perceived cosmetic issues, they indicated that this design would remain as is.
Battlefield 6 Season 5, which launched last week, is rolling out in three waves. The initial wave included the Vegas Strip and Area 51 maps, along with a Dead Space crossover event. Future updates planned for November and December will introduce new maps, map updates, and additional content. IGN previously reviewed Battlefield 6 multiplayer, awarding it an 8/10 and praising its "well-layered action and dynamic destruction."
