Battlefield 6 Devs Address 'Secuty' Typo and Five-Pistol Skin Controversy

Battlefield Studios has responded to player concerns regarding cosmetic items in Battlefield 6, confirming that a "Secuty" typo on a Season 5 skin will be corrected. The studio also addressed the intentional design of an outfit featuring multiple pistols.

In a statement acknowledging player feedback, the development team stated that a correction update for the "Secuty" typo on the McNeil character's skin is planned for the Season 5 Phase 2 release. The studio recognized that such visual errors can cause confusion and undermine player trust, and indicated a review of their communication processes for known visual bugs.

However, the "Midnight Mirage" skin, notable for its depiction of a character equipped with five pistols, has been clarified as an "intentional creative concept." The developers explained this design choice as a homage to over-the-top action movie aesthetics, where characters often carry an abundance of backup weapons. The studio admitted that this particular design, when released alongside other cosmetic anomalies, could appear unintentional.

"We take pride in the craft of our world and our gear, and seeing visual oddities slip through is frustrating for everyone," the statement read, without directly addressing fan speculation about the use of AI in cosmetic generation.

The Season 5 update for Battlefield 6, which introduced new maps, weapons, vehicles, and gameplay adjustments, launched this week. The season's debut was partially overshadowed by player discussions concerning the aforementioned cosmetic issues and a significant reduction in XP gain.
