Battlefield 6 has removed the fan-favorite Rush game mode from its official playlists, a move that has sparked significant discontent within the game's community. Developer Battlefield Studios confirmed that the team is exploring ways to reintroduce the mode, alongside others like King of the Hill and Team Deathmatch, which were also removed.

These playlist changes were implemented following a minor patch, version 1.4.1.5, on August 4. The modes were taken out of official matchmaking and custom searches, leaving them only accessible within Battlefield 6's Portal custom games. According to an official statement from the Battlefield Comms social media account, the decision was made to "improve matchmaking quality by focusing players into the playlists seeing the most activity, creating more consistent matches that fill, and getting our players into the action faster."

Rush has long been a staple of the Battlefield franchise. While its implementation and smaller player counts in Battlefield 6 were not universally praised, its complete removal from official playlists has been met with disbelief by many players. Reports indicate that some players, including one Steam user with nearly 500 hours in the game, have sought and received refunds for Battlefield 6 due to the removal of their preferred modes. "Battlefield Studios, you don't get to remove the game modes I play and still keep my money," one player stated.

Battlefield Studios has acknowledged the community's sentiment, recognizing that several of the removed modes are "community favorites, regardless of how often they're played." The developer stated that it is actively investigating methods to bring these modes back into the official matchmaking rotation. "We're closely monitoring the impact of these playlist changes and will continue making adjustments where they're needed," the studio said.

This move comes as Battlefield 6's naval-combat themed Season 4 is currently underway. The season has seen the return of the Wake Island map and is scheduled to feature a Top Gun crossover event on August 18.
