Battlefield 6 Season 3 Update Introduces Contract System Similar to Call of Duty: Ghosts

Battlefield 6's third season is nearing its conclusion, with the final phase, dubbed High-Value Target, set to launch on June 30th. This update will introduce a new event called Wet Work, which features a contract-focused experience for both traditional multiplayer and the free-to-play Redsec portion of the game. Players will encounter contracts dropped by eliminated opponents, offering mid-match objectives that can be picked up by anyone. These objectives may include eliminating enemies, looting chests, capturing control points, or surviving for a set duration.

This contract system bears a strong resemblance to the Field Order mechanic from Call of Duty: Ghosts. In Ghosts, Field Orders, marked by a briefcase icon, would also appear after a player's death. Picking one up would initiate a brief, mid-match challenge, and successfully completing it would reward the player with a Care Package containing a random killstreak. The specific rewards for completing contracts in Battlefield 6 remain undisclosed, with more details expected closer to the Wet Work event's launch.

The update also brings a new event menu designed to streamline the tracking of challenges and rewards, consolidating them into a single location. This new menu will also display event-exclusive modes.

Beyond new events, the patch includes several adjustments to gunplay and vehicles. Recoil, weapon handling, bullet dispersion, and limb damage modifiers are being tweaked, with bullet velocity and drag also under review. Vehicle balance is also being addressed: Thermal Smoke will no longer counter C4, and RPG damage against tanks and helicopters will be increased. Additionally, automated anti-air defenses at team spawns will no longer protect land vehicles and will have a 20-second cooldown after engaging a target. A 'Mark All Seen' button is also being added to help manage the persistent 'New' orange markers across various menus, including Loadouts, Battle Pass, Store, Profile, Challenges, and the main Play tab.
