Battlefield Studios has unveiled the first look at Season 4 for Battlefield 6, set to launch on July 21st. The new season will expand the game's offerings with naval warfare, four new weapons, and the significant return of two-seater jets, a feature last present in Battlefield 2.

The introduction of naval combat includes two new water vehicles: the RCB-90 Patrol Boat, described as a "tank" equivalent, and the smaller 7.7m NSW RHIB light transport boat. A new map, Tsuru Reef, which will be the largest in the game, is also arriving with Season 4, followed by Wake Island in the season's second phase.

Players can also anticipate four new additions to the arsenal, including the Interdictor sniper rifle. However, the trailer's most surprising reveal is the reintroduction of two-seat, fixed-wing jets, absent from the series since Battlefield 2. The trailer showcases the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the F-14 Tomcat. The F-14 Tomcat is prominently featured, with a shot highlighting its iconic wing-folding mechanism as it engages its afterburner.

This addition of two-seater jets is expected to impact the game's vehicle meta, as the co-pilot or gunner role can provide additional offensive or defensive capabilities beyond what single-pilot aircraft can manage. Coinciding with the return of the Tomcat, Battlefield 6 is also teasing a crossover with the Top Gun franchise. While the exact nature of this collaboration remains unclear, beyond the inclusion of the Tomcat, developers suggest it may involve more than just cosmetic skins.
