Battlefield 6 is set to receive its fourth season on July 21st, bringing a significant expansion of its naval combat capabilities and a collaboration with the Top Gun franchise. The season will roll out in three phases, with the initial "Pacific Front" phase introducing a new map, Tsuru Reef, which is described as the largest in the game to date and the first to feature naval warfare.

This first phase also adds two new water vehicles: the RCB-90 Patrol Boat and the RHIB light transport boat, alongside three new weapons: the Bren 3 Carbine, EF88 Assault Rifle, and the VSSM DMR. The latter can be modified for full-automatic fire. Quality of life improvements, including custom lobbies and pre-lobby screens for Portal mode, will also be implemented across the season.

The "Top Gun" crossover is slated for Phase Two, beginning August 18th. This phase will see the introduction of the F-14 Tomcat (in-game as F-74A Seacat) and the F/A-81F Super Spectre (F/A-18 Super Hornet). These are the first two-seater jets to appear in the series since Battlefield 2. The remake of Wake Island map will also launch during this phase, featuring two aircraft carriers as spawn points for each team. A fourth weapon, the Desert Tech HTI sniper rifle, will also be available.

Central to the Top Gun collaboration is the rebirth of Battlefield 4's Carrier Assault mode as "Carrier Strike." This limited-time mode challenges players to sink the opposing team's aircraft carrier, requiring combined arms warfare across land, air, and sea to penetrate enemy defenses. The mode will be set within a crossover universe, featuring characters and voice-overs from the Top Gun films. A separate air-based mission, "Fighter Sweep," will be added to the free-to-play Redacted offering, allowing players to pilot the new two-seater jets.

Phase Three, "Tidal Strike," is scheduled to begin September 15th, though details remain scarce. The season will also debut a Spectator mode, initially available in verified Conquest and Redacted battle royale experiences, with broader support planned for later.

Battlefield 6 has been a strong performer for EA, breaking series records and receiving positive reception at launch, particularly for its multiplayer. The ongoing seasonal updates aim to build upon this success and address player feedback.
