Battlefield Studios has announced that the highly requested server browser feature for Battlefield 6 will be implemented in two phases, with the first phase beginning shortly after the Season 5 content update drops on November 10.

Initially slated for a December release, the studio opted to accelerate the server browser's rollout to focus on stability before the holiday season. The feature will first be made available to a limited group of players as a stress test. Once stability is confirmed through collected data, it will be fully released to all players globally.

"We are aiming to progress through these stages over the course of a couple weeks," a representative from Battlefield Studios stated. "The timeline for this rollout remains dependent on live testing results and any fixes required along the way. We will keep you updated on progress as we evaluate data and prepare for global availability."

When implemented, the server browser will be a prominent feature on the Battlefield 6 main menus, accessible directly from the Quickplay row. This will provide players with immediate access to a list of active servers, eliminating the need for extra navigation.

Additional server browser tiles will also be integrated into other menu sections, including the Portal. The development team emphasizes that bringing back the server browser is about empowering players with direct control over their gameplay experience, dictating how, where, when, and with whom they play.

Key confirmed features for the server browser on day one include:

  • Direct Access to Official Servers: Players will be able to browse and join both Official Battlefield Studios servers and Official Player-hosted servers from a unified interface.
  • Shared Server Pool: The server browser will contribute to a shared pool of official servers, working alongside Quickplay, Multiplayer, and Custom Search to maintain populated servers.
  • Granular Filtering & Sorting: The browser will allow players to filter servers by Map or Mode, and sort listings by Ping, Player Count, Server Name, or Recommended Full status.
  • Full Progression & Mastery: All servers listed in the Official tab will award full XP, weapon mastery, and challenge progression, consistent with standard matchmaking.
  • Persistent Lobbies: Players will have the option to remain on the same server for consecutive rounds with their squad, avoiding the need to return to the main menu after each match.

Official player-hosted servers will operate on dedicated infrastructure, meaning the host does not need to remain in-game for the server to stay online. These servers will remain visible in the browser even when empty. Once a player joins, the match will begin seeding and routing players. Servers can remain active for up to seven days without any players before being delisted.

Battlefield Studios has indicated that further details regarding the precise rollout timing and a comprehensive usage guide will be provided soon.
