Battlefield 6 is set to receive a Top Gun-themed crossover event in August, EA confirmed in a recent press presentation. This celebration will introduce elements inspired by the popular franchise, including vehicles, characters, and game modes. While specific character skins like Maverick or Goose are not guaranteed, the event may feature costumes and iconography from the Top Gun universe, such as pilot jackets and helmets.
The crossover event will also bring two new naval and aerial-focused game modes. Season 4, scheduled to begin next week, will introduce Carrier Strike, a variation of the classic Carrier Assault mode. This mode will challenge players to attack and defend aircraft carriers using aerial vehicles. Additionally, a new mode called Fighter Sweep will be available through Gauntlet, focusing exclusively on jet combat. Players can also look forward to a new two-person jet, allowing for cooperative dogfighting in tandem with a wingman.
Season 4 will also add two new maps and is expected to center around naval combat. One of these new maps will be a reimagining of Wake Island, slated for release in August. This iteration is anticipated to be the largest map in Battlefield 6 to date.
Further details regarding the Top Gun crossover will be shared closer to its August debut. EA has also recently interviewed Ariel Giovannetti, Seasonal and Competitive Creative Lead on Battlefield 6, to discuss the game's current state and future plans for seasonal content and player feedback implementation.
