PlatinumGames' president Atsushi Inaba has indicated that the studio has a significant interest in continuing the Bayonetta series and further exploring the character. While unable to make any official announcements at this time, Inaba stated in an interview with Famitsu, as reported by VGC, that PlatinumGames has "a strong desire to further develop the character of Bayonetta and expand her world." He encouraged fans to anticipate future developments regarding the franchise.
The latest installment featuring the titular Umbra Witch was 2023's prequel, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. The prospect of a new mainline entry, potentially Bayonetta 4, has been a subject of discussion since series creator Hideki Kamiya confirmed it was in development in 2022. However, Kamiya departed PlatinumGames about a year later, and the studio has undergone significant restructuring, with several other key developers leaving as well.
Shift Up CEO Hyung-tae Kim, who was also part of the interview to discuss a crossover between Stellar Blade and Bayonetta, expressed enthusiasm for the series' continuation, jokingly suggesting PlatinumGames should continue it through Bayonetta 10.
PlatinumGames' upcoming projects include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, an adaptation of the comic book series. Development for this title was re-revealed in June 2026, with PlatinumGames taking over from Black Forest Games, though a release window has not yet been announced.
Fans are hopeful for a new entry in the main Bayonetta series, though past narrative choices in Bayonetta 3 have drawn criticism. The series has also appeared in crossover content, such as an appearance in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and the upcoming integration with Stellar Blade.
