Game Freak director Kota Furushima has apologized to players for aspects of "Beast of Reincarnation" that have not provided an "enjoyable experience." The game, which launched earlier this month, has received a mixed reception on Steam and a 73/100 aggregate score on Metacritic, with many players feeling the game falls short despite its potential.

In an interview with 4Gamer, translated by Automaton, Furushima admitted that "there are still areas in the game that require our sincere attention." He stated that some elements "need polishing" and confirmed that further updates are planned. These updates will aim to address issues with story pacing, introduce frame generation capabilities, and allow players to skip cutscenes. Furushima clarified that the game's difficulty was not intended to be high, but rather to encourage effective use of the companion character, Koo.

Despite the criticisms, Furushima highlighted that certain aspects of "Beast of Reincarnation" have been well-received. The co-op combat has garnered positive reactions, as has the game's unique post-apocalyptic atmosphere. PC Gamer Australian editor Shaun Prescott noted in his review the game's "maturity and patience to the presentation that feels more filmic," and its commitment to a "bereft, enveloping ambience" that eschews typical blockbuster tropes. This unique world and atmosphere appear to be resonating with players and provide a strong foundation for the ongoing development.
