Fallout Day 2026 concluded its week-long celebration of the post-apocalyptic franchise with a series of announcements from Bethesda Softworks, detailing upcoming content for Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Fallout Shelter, alongside new partnerships and merchandise. The fan event, which spanned five days, highlighted a significant number of updates and projects designed to engage the series' dedicated player base.
Pet Companions Arrive in Fallout Titles
Soon, players will be able to venture through the wasteland with animal companions. Fallout Shelter is set to receive a "World Pets" update later this year, which will allow players to adopt baby Deathclaws as pets within their vaults. Fallout 76's 72nd free update, also named World Pets, will enable players to bring various animal companions, including dogs, cats, Radhogs, and Deathclaws, out into the game world starting December 1. Each species offers unique buffs; dogs can locate medical supplies, cats provide better fishing bait, radhogs sniff out radioactive materials, and Deathclaws assist in clearing infestations by granting bonus legendary weapons. Players will also be able to level up these companions to unlock perks, improve carrying capacity, and gain new customization options.
New Content for Fallout 4
Fallout 4 continues to receive support through new Verified Creations, some developed with Bethesda Game Studios' assistance. Among the highlighted community-created content are "FEVer Dreams" from Kinggath Creations, an escape room-style dungeon featuring hallucinations and dialogue with the player's spouse, complete with voice acting from Fallout 4's main cast. Hobgoblin Studios' "Command Override" allows players to remotely pilot robots and includes a new hacking ability and a Robco headquarters dungeon. Looking further ahead, "Fathomless" from Zone Zero Creations is planned for 2027, described as a cosmic horror expansion set in the deep Atlantic Ocean.
Fallout 76 Skyline Valley Enhancements
The Skyline Valley region in Fallout 76 has undergone an update that refines its lighting, terrain, and weather systems. Additionally, a new bounty hunting system has been implemented. Players can initiate these hunts by speaking with Marshall Kane at the trading post, who will offer rewards for eliminating specific factions. Bethesda also shared that Fallout 76 has surpassed 25 million players.
Fallout Shelter: The Experiment Gets a Release Date
Prime Video, in collaboration with Bethesda and Studio Lambert, is producing a reality competition series inspired by Fallout Shelter. Titled "Fallout Shelter: The Experiment," the show is set to premiere on Prime Video on January 13, 2027.
Expanding Fallout Partnerships
Beyond game updates, Bethesda is extending its partnerships and promotions. The third annual Fallout Night with the Texas Stars will occur on October 24, offering a collectible bobblehead. The World of Fallout exhibit at the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas is expanding with two new galleries, doubling its size and incorporating interactive elements. The Fallout Cafe will return to Tower Records in Tokyo for its second year, featuring themed food and merchandise. Furthermore, Bethesda and Jones Soda are collaborating on "Project T.W.I.S.T.," allowing fans to vote on the flavor for a new Nuka Twist soda variant via the Jones Soda website from October 21-31.
Bethesda also announced that Fallout Day 2027 will be held in Washington, D.C., marking the franchise's 30th anniversary.
